Q. What is the main advantage of having a bespoke website?
A. The advantage of having a bespoke website is that
it is tailored to your exact needs and requirements and designed to
match your corporate style, and therefore unique to your organisation.
A second advantage is that your organisation will own the copyright
for a bespoke website.
Q. What is the process for producing a bespoke website?
A. First we will meet with you to discuss your needs
and requirements to enable us to produce an initial design. You then
provide feedback on your likes/dislikes about the proposed design.
We then make changes to the design until you are completely satisfied
with it. Once you have provided content we then build the website.
It is only when you are completely satisfied with everything (design,
content etc) that the website is made live.
Q. Do you provide maintenance for bespoke websites?
A. Yes - we offer a number of options for website
maintenance. You can either choose to have a yearly maintenance contract
for regular updates (paid either yearly or monthly). Alternatively
you can pay for updates as and when you require them, for which you
will need to contact us for a quote.
Q. Is it possible to update my website myself?
A. Yes - if you have Macromedia Contribute (around
£99) you can edit the content of your website without interfering
with the actual design. Alternatively, if you need to make regular
updates to certain areas of your website you could investigate the
possibility of having a CMS developed specifically for your organisation.
Q. Do we have to provide all images for a bespoke website?
A. No - we can both source photographic images and
design icons/graphics etc
Q. How long does it generally take to produce a bespoke website?
A. We normally say 6 weeks as a general guideline,
but this is very much dependant on how quickly a design is signed
off and on how quickly we are provided with content. We have been
known to produce a website in a week whilst others are still waiting
missing content after two months!! It is therefore heavily dependant
on the client.

Q. What are the main advantages of having a CMS?
A. Having a CMS enables you to have control of your
website from any computer that is connected to the internet, all via
a password protected control panel. A CMS allows you to add/edit and
delete various elements of the site rather than having to pay a designer
to do it for you. A CMS is useful on pages that need updating on a
regular basis, for example a news page or publications page.
Q. Are there any disadvantages to having a CMS?
A. A website with a built in CMS will obviously cost
more initially than a static website as there is a lot more work in
developing the website. Overtime, however, having a CMS could save
a lot of time and money and will allow you to keep the work in-house.

Q. What packages do you work in to produce the artwork?
A. We design artwork using Adobe Photoshop and then
transfer to either Adobe Indesign or Quark Express depending on which
package individual printers specify.
Q. Can you design exhibition stands and large advertising
boards?
A. yes we can. We can also design/organise other
material for exhibitions such as calendars, pens, t-shirts, bookmarks
etc

Q. Does it matter that my website and flyers are in a different
style to my stationary?
A. Yes - your corporate image is the most important
part of your brand identity and forms the foundation of your companies
profile in the market place.
Q. What is the process for designing a new logo?
A. We produce up to three separate designs for you
to view. If you like one of these or only certain bits of one, then
we work with you to edit the design until you are happy. When the
logo is complete we provide you with a CD containing the art work
and a style guide outlining how the logo should be used in different
media and giving the exact pantone colours.

Q. Can you produce illustrations for scientific journals
and papers?
A. Yes we can work from either pen or digital drawings
to produce high quality technical graphics/illustrations to meet the
specific guidelines provided by technical journals and papers.
Q. Can you produce illustrations other than technical drawings?
A. Yes we can design icons, simple cartoons and other
graphics for both print work and web. Please contact us to discuss
your requirements.

Q. Can you proof-read our web/print work?
A. Yes we can also proof read website content and
print work. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and to
request a quote.

Q. Why do I need hosting?
A. All websites have to be stored on a server so
that they can be viewed over the internet. When you pay to host a
website, you are paying for the space on a server where all your website
files and images will be stored.
Q. Why do I need a domain name?
A. A domain name is your URL (e.g. www.yourname.co.uk),
where people go to view your website. Every domain name is unique
and has to be registered. You can purchase more than one domain name
and forward them to the main website. For example you could buy domains
with variations on the spelling, and also the different versions,
for example you could purchase both the .co.uk and the .com
Q. How do I get my website on to the server?
A. Pinsah Design will do this on your behalf using
a technique called File Transfer Protocol (FTP). You don't need to
worry though, because unless you really want to edit your website
yourself, you will never need to get involved in this process!
